Is reconstitution solution the same as bacteriostatic water?
“Reconstitution solution” names a job, not a formula: any sterile liquid used to return a freeze-dried compound to solution can be listed under it. That is where buyers get caught, because plain sterile water and saline are sold under the same name.
What we sell under that name is bacteriostatic water: sterile water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol. The preservative is the difference. It stops bacteria multiplying in the vial between draws, which is what makes a multiple-dose vial possible. Check the label for “benzyl alcohol 0.9%” whoever you buy from.

Yes. Sterile water has no preservative, so a vial is meant to be used once. Bacteriostatic water adds 0.9% benzyl alcohol, which allows repeated draws from the same vial.
